Difficult homework can leave children stumped.

These pictures, shared by parents and teachers online, reveal what happens when pupils get creative with their answers to tricky questions.

Some cheeky youngsters deliberately gave know-it-all responses to put their teachers in their place while others were unintentionally funny with their replies.

One well-meaning child accidentally accused their maths teacher of doing drugs when they wrote, 'I like it when she does meth with us.'

Another drew a picture of what appeared to be her mother dancing around a pole in a strip club - prompting the mortified parent to write in and apologise.

Pictures also caused problems for one pupil who did his best to draw a pair of scissors, only to end up with an image that looked far more obscene.

Here, FEMAIL rounds up some of the best examples from around the web...

Succinct: While technically true, this one-word answer is not what the teacher was expecting

Honest: This primary school pupil was very realistic about his artistic talents

Taking this literally: This maths teacher was not impressed by the smarty-pants response

Classic: An trigonometary answer favoured by know-it-alls in classrooms around the world

Innocent mistake: This budding maths star accidentally accused their teacher of taking drugs

Fun-loving: This birthday girl gave up completely but hoped her whale drawing would help

Bizarre letter: A teacher was left confused when her student penned a fictional note to Hitler

Dodging chores: This creative youngster had very clear plans for their dinosaur companions

Doing what their told: This school pupil made sure to follow instructions to the letter

X-rated: This arts and craft session ended with one child producing a very X-rated drawing

Mortified: This mother had to intervene when her mother drew this misleading picture

Not convinced: This teacher made a jibe about his pupil's hand-drawn portrait

Unusual past-time: This child did their best to show the family working together in the garden
